RFX1

Description

The RFX1 (regulatory factor X1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

RFX1, or MHC class II regulatory factor RFX1, is a protein encoded by the RFX1 gene located on chromosome 19. It belongs to the regulatory factor X (RFX) gene family, which encodes transcription factors with conserved domains, including a DNA binding domain and a dimerization domain. RFX1 is a transcriptional activator that binds DNA as a monomer or as a heterodimer with other RFX family members. It is essential for the expression of MHC class II genes, and it also binds to an inverted repeat required for hepatitis B virus genes expression. The RFX family is conserved across various species, including yeast, worms, mice, and humans.

RFX1 is also known as EFC, RFX.
