Description

The RPL18 (ribosomal protein L18) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

RPL18 is a gene that encodes a protein called 60S ribosomal protein L18, which is part of the large (60S) subunit of the ribosome. Ribosomes are cellular structures responsible for protein synthesis. RPL18 belongs to a family of ribosomal proteins called L18E. The gene is located in the cytoplasm, and there are several copies of the gene scattered throughout the genome, known as pseudogenes.
