RSAD1

Description

The RSAD1 (radical S-adenosyl methionine domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

RSAD1 (Radical S-adenosyl methionine domain containing 1) is a protein encoded by the RSAD1 gene in humans.

RSAD1 may function as a heme chaperone, binding to heme. While its bacterial homologs lack oxygen-independent coproporphyrinogen-III oxidase activity, RSAD1 binds a single [4Fe-4S] cluster coordinated with 3 cysteine residues and an exchangeable S-adenosyl-L-methionine.

RSAD1 is also known as HemW.
