SAP30L
Description
The SAP30L (SAP30 like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.
Isoform 1 functions as a transcription repressor, likely through its interactions with histone deacetylase complexes. It plays a role in recruiting the class 1 Sin3-histone deacetylase complex (HDAC) to the nucleolus. SAP30L binds DNA, but without sequence specificity, and bends the bound DNA. It also binds phosphoinositol phosphates (phosphoinositol 3-phosphate, phosphoinositol 4-phosphate, and phosphoinositol 5-phosphate) using the same motif that governs DNA binding and nuclear import.
SAP30L is also known as NS4ATP2.
