Description

The SEPHS1 (selenophosphate synthetase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

SEPHS1 is a human gene encoding an enzyme that synthesizes selenophosphate from selenide and ATP. Selenophosphate is the selenium donor used to synthesize selenocysteine, which is incorporated into selenoproteins during translation at in-frame UGA codons.

SEPHS1 catalyzes the synthesis of selenophosphate from selenide and ATP.

SEPHS1 is also known as SELD, SPS, SPS1.
