SETD1B

Description

The SETD1B (SET domain containing 1B, histone lysine methyltransferase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

SETD1B is a histone methyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to the epsilon-amino group of Lysine 4 on histone H3 (H3K4) via a non-processive mechanism. It is involved in chromatin remodeling and forms H3K4me1, H3K4me2, and H3K4me3 methylation marks at active chromatin sites where transcription and DNA repair occur. SETD1B plays a crucial role in regulating the transcriptional programming of multipotent hematopoietic progenitor cells and lymphoid lineage specification during hematopoiesis.

SETD1B is also known as IDDSELD, KMT2G, Set1B.
