SLITRK2

Description

The SLITRK2 (SLIT and NTRK like family member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

SLITRK2 is a protein encoded by the SLITRK2 gene in humans. It is an integral membrane protein with two N-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains, similar to those found in SLIT proteins, and a C-terminal region with homology to neurotrophin receptors. SLITRK2 is primarily expressed in neural tissues and exhibits neurite-modulating activity.

SLITRK2 is involved in synaptogenesis and promotes excitatory synapse differentiation. It also suppresses neurite outgrowth and negatively regulates NTRK2. SLITRK2 interacts with PTPRD in a splicing-dependent manner, potentially inducing pre-synaptic differentiation. Additionally, SLITRK2 interacts with NTRK2.

SLITRK2 is also known as CXorf1, CXorf2, SLITL1, TMEM257, XLID111.
