SRGN

Description

The SRGN (serglycin) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

Serglycin, also known as hematopoietic proteoglycan core protein or secretory granule proteoglycan core protein, is a protein encoded by the SRGN gene in humans. It is primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells and endothelial cells and is the only known intracellular proteoglycan. It is a component of secretory granules in many hematopoietic cells, and its protease-resistant peptide core may be important for neutralizing hydrolytic enzymes. Serglycin was found to be associated with the macromolecular complex of granzymes and perforin and serves as a scaffold for granzyme and perforin in granule-mediated apoptosis.

SRGN is also known as PPG, PRG, PRG1.
