STK33

Description

The STK33 (serine/threonine kinase 33) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

STK33, or Serine/threonine kinase 33, is a protein encoded by the STK33 gene in humans. It was identified as a synthetic lethal gene in cell lines that depend on the KRAS gene. STK33 is being investigated as a potential target for reversible male contraceptives, and the inhibitor CDD-2807 has shown promising results in mice.

STK33 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates VIME, potentially playing a role in regulating the dynamic behavior of the intermediate filament cytoskeleton. While not essential for the survival of KRAS-dependent AML cell lines, it interacts with VIME.

STK33 is also known as SPGF93.
