TCF25
Description
The TCF25 (transcription factor 25) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
TCF25 is a component of the ribosome quality control complex (RQC), a ribosome-associated complex that mediates ubiquitination and extraction of incompletely synthesized nascent chains for proteasomal degradation. Within the RQC complex, TCF25 is required to promote the formation of 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains during ubiquitination of incompletely synthesized proteins by LTN1. TCF25 also acts as a transcriptional repressor, repressing transcription of SRF in vitro and thus may play a role in heart development. It may also play a role in cell death control.
