TFDP2

Description

The TFDP2 (transcription factor Dp-2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

TFDP2 (Transcription factor Dp-2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TFDP2 gene. TFDP2 dimerises with E2F, a key transcriptional activator involved in the regulation of the cell cycle.

TFDP2, also known as Dp-2, stimulates E2F-dependent transcription by binding cooperatively with E2F family members to the E2 recognition site (5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3'). This binding occurs within the promoter regions of genes involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA replication. The TFDP2:E2F complex regulates cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase. The E2F1:DP complex plays a role in both cell proliferation and apoptosis. TFDP2 also inhibits adipocyte differentiation by suppressing CEBPA binding to its target gene promoters.

TFDP2 is also known as DP2.
