THOC7

Description

The THOC7 (THO complex subunit 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

THOC7 is crucial for the efficient export of polyadenylated RNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. It acts as a component of the THO subcomplex within the TREX complex, which plays a vital role in coupling mRNA transcription, processing, and nuclear export. The TREX complex selectively associates with spliced mRNA, not unspliced pre-mRNA. It is recruited to spliced mRNAs independently of transcription, binds to mRNA upstream of the exon-junction complex (EJC), and is recruited to a region near the 5' end of the mRNA in a splicing- and cap-dependent manner. This recruitment facilitates mRNA export to the cytoplasm via the TAP/NFX1 pathway.

THOC7 is also known as NIF3L1BP1, fSAP24, hTREX30.
