TIMM10

Description

The TIMM10 (translocase of inner mitochondrial membrane 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

TIMM10 is a protein encoded by the TIMM10 gene in humans. It belongs to a family of conserved proteins that assemble into heterooligomeric complexes within the mitochondrial intermembrane space.

TIMM10 is a mitochondrial chaperone protein that plays a crucial role in the import and insertion of multi-pass transmembrane proteins into the inner mitochondrial membrane. It assists in the transfer of beta-barrel precursors from the TOM complex to the SAM complex of the outer membrane. Its chaperone-like activity safeguards hydrophobic precursors from aggregation and guides them across the intermembrane space.

TIMM10 is also known as TIM10, TIM10A, TIMM10A.
