VPS28

Description

The VPS28 (VPS28 subunit of ESCRT-I) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

The VPS28 gene encodes a protein that is crucial for the sorting of cell surface receptors. It functions as part of the ESCRT-I complex, which is involved in the movement of vesicles within cells. This complex sorts ubiquitinated proteins, which are tagged for degradation, into the multivesicular body (MVB), a specialized compartment within cells. VPS28 interacts with other proteins within the ESCRT-I complex, such as TSG101 and VPS37, as well as proteins in other ESCRT complexes, such as VPS36 and SNF8.

VPS28 is part of the ESCRT-I complex, which plays a crucial role in regulating the movement of vesicles within cells.

VPS28 is also known as CIIA.
