It specifically interacts with the precursor form of microRNA MIR143 (pri-MIR143) through its C3H1-type zinc finger domains. This interaction occurs at a specific sequence (5'-GCAGCGC-3') within pri-MIR143, and its effect is to inhibit the processing of pri-MIR143 into its mature form, effectively downregulating the production of this particular microRNA.
