ZNF746

Description

The ZNF746 (zinc finger protein 746) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Zinc finger protein 746, also known as Parkin-interacting substrate (PARIS), is a zinc finger protein encoded by the ZNF746 gene. It plays a role in the neurodegeneration of Parkinson‘s disease.

ZNF746 is a transcription repressor that specifically binds to the 5‘-TATTTT[T/G]-3‘ consensus sequence on promoters and represses transcription of PGC-1-alpha (PPARGC1A). This repression is thought to play a role in the regulation of neuron death.

ZNF746 is also known as PARIS.
