ZNF91

Description

The ZNF91 (zinc finger protein 91) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

ZNF91 is a transcription factor crucial for suppressing the activity of SINE-VNTR-Alu (SVA) retrotransposons. It directly binds to SVA sequences, preventing their expression by assembling a repressive complex that includes TRIM28/KAP1. ZNF91 may also regulate the FCGR2B gene by binding to its promoter, leading to its repression; however, further in vivo studies are needed to confirm this interaction.

ZNF91 is also known as HPF7, HTF10.
